The Role


We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Interactive team focusing on our Inflight Entertainment and Connected Platforms. Your mission is to lead the development of our innovative In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) software within the Interactive / Product division. As a pivotal leader in our team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the process, technical direction, and future of our IFEC software platform.


What your day-to-day looks like

 

  • Proactively identify and resolve issues and risks in assigned teams' products, tools, and processes that may impact value delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership by guiding the team in evolving the architectural vision, establishing coding standards, and ensuring the adoption of best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Offer hands-on guidance and mentorship to the engineering team, assisting with complex technical challenges and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners/managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications and project plans.
  • Lead the planning and execution of projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, resource optimization, and timely delivery.
  • Lead the architectural transition from monolithic to microservices-based architecture, leveraging containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes to accelerate development while ensuring a stable platform.
  • Design and implement scalable microservices solutions, optimizing for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Utilize expertise in supporting Software as a Service (SaaS) products to ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of our IFEC software platform.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to address customer requirements and drive continuous product improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with UX/UI designers to ensure seamless integration of design concepts into functional and intuitive user interfaces.
  • Partner with backend engineering teams to integrate IFEC software with backend systems and external APIs, ensuring data consistency and system interoperability.


Requirements

Technically


  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any other relevant field will be valued
  • +7 years of software development and/or management experience, ideally in the e-commerce/travel industry
  • Strong understanding of good engineering practices
  • Strong leadership and technical expertise, particularly in highly reliable full-stack systems
  • Be hands-on experience in supporting software development for commercialized products
  • Knowledge of our following tech stack: Python with Django, Go, Rust, or any other backend languages. Javascript, Typescript, and React for frontend development, CI/CD, Linux, AWS, Docker, and Fast API among others
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar Agile project management tools is also a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English, and Spanish (oral / written)
  • Experience working with web/mobile/cross-device solutions is a plus
